Matcha has played a role in my life ever since I became interested in Japan, got a chance to visit and experience a tea ceremony, and took some elements of this world into my life.
As someone influenced by monastic traditions and with an academic, nerdy, orientation, my approach has been one of closer looks, deeper dives. Other people’s interest in them has seemed rather lacking. You are still more likely to find listicles of The Five Best Matcha in which four are from the next supermarket and of unclear origin than any deeper insight.
Now, we are in the middle of matcha mania, matcha madness.
Matcha is suddenly everywhere!, except it isn’t all that sudden. I hadn’t created a site on matcha alone before because the trend already seemed to be done and collecting dust years ago.
It clearly is back.
It’s back with a vengeance. And with little of the deeper understanding and appreciation that I would want to see – and that will help you get more out of your cup of matcha!
So, let’s see what there is to discover, to create, learn, savor, and appreciate!
